In just under two years’ time, elections will be held for North Warwickshire Borough Council. At the moment the Council iscontrolled by the Conservatives but in May 2019 we can change that. 

We should all be under no doubt of the desperate situation our Borough finds itself in under the Tories. They’ve slashed funding for frontline services, cut the support for vulnerable people, tried to close down leisure centres and most recently they rejected Labour’s plan to cut the £1million senior management bill to put money into public services we all rely on. 

The Tories are running our Borough down and only Labour winning in 2019 can stop them.

Labour need 35 candidates to contest every seat in the Borough and that’s where you come in. Have you ever considered standing for election to the Council?

The answer is probably not. Now is the time to think about how you could change your community. Maybe you’re already active in your community and now feel ready to help lead the change local people deserve. Maybe your skills from the world of work would really help improve the Council and the services it provides to local people?

We’re holding an ‘Open Morning’ on Saturday 9th September at the Council Offices in Atherstone to allow you to meet existing Councillors, find out more information and ask any questions you might have.

But you don’t have to wait until then to apply to be a candidate. The selection process to find Labour candidates for 2019 is now open.

In North Warwickshire, all Council meetings are held during the evening, usually starting at 6.30pm. As a Councillor you’d be expected to attend each Full Council, usually held every 8 weeks along with a committee meeting held between those Full Council meetings. 

They’ll also be a Labour Group meeting prior to each Full Council where Labour Councillors meet to decide on group policy.
