Back in 2013, Labour Town Councillors and others pushed for a huge investment in Coleshill Memorial Park. Last year, the Town Council delivered phase one of the project that saw new play areas, footpaths, security measures, lighting, tennis courts and an outside gym! My little boy Oliver (pictured right) loves it! As do the many hundreds of people who have used the park this summer (yes we are in Summer apparently!).
Phase 2 of the works has started this week and although not as glamorous, it’s just as important. A new driveway and car park surface will be laid with a wider entrance on Park Road and better markings to ensure we use the space effectively. The path that is adjacent to Wilmot Avenue will also be straightened and relaid in what marks the end of our work to make the park accessible for everyone regardless of ability.
The current total cost of phase 2 is less than half the original budget, mainly down to working together with the County Council to achieve a significant unit price saving.
The remaining items in the master plan of the park include new signage, CCTV, lighting and a dog agility area. The Council will be announcing more information on these items in the coming month
