PRESS RELEASE FROM COLESHILL TOWN COUNCIL:
News of £10,000 investment from Sport England in the ‘Coleshill Elite Sports Project’ has been welcomed by Coleshill Town Council.
The Council, working in partnership with Elite Sport, have been running the programme for the last 12 months and with this news of additional funding, will be continuing the programme throughout 2018.
In 2017, the Council invested around £5000 of its own funding along with a Big Lottery grant of £9357 to run weekly sports classes, a summer school and family fun days at Coleshill Memorial Park.
Now the Council wants your views on what the programme should include in 2018.
Chairman of the Community & Environment Committee, Cllr Adam Farrell said;
“We’re delighted to have secured an investment of £9850 from Sport England. This will be added to by the Council and some other smaller grants to provide a large investment in sports and activities for young people in the town.
“Last year, the programme was successful but this year we want to get more people involved and that’s why we want your views on what you’d like to see included. Whether it be weekly sport sessions at the Memorial Park, a ‘Summer School’ for young people or something completely different.
“The Town Council is proud to have invested a significant amount of money in our Memorial Park and now we want more people to use and get active in sports and recreation.”
Residents are asked to send their views to Helen Whittaker, the Council’s Administration Manager:
