A new injunction has been granted by the High Court to stop ‘car cruising’ in North Warwickshire following a long legal battle over many years.
The three-year injunction makes it an offence to organise, promote or take part in any sort of street cruising and racing across the whole of the Borough.
Coleshill North Councillor, Adam Farrell, said;
“This is great news for local residents. Over many years, they’ve had to put up with a group of people using local roads as some sort of private race track. It’s not just the noise that is generated from the cars that disrupts local residents, it’s the dangers that are created on local roads. As people race their own cars, they put others at risk, they put families at risk and they put children at risk.
“This injunction provides the Police with greater powers to act, not only in Coleshill but across North Warwickshire. We now have to ensure that we have the Police resources to enforce this injunction because at the end of the day, if we’re going to prevent and stop races and cruises in the future, we need Police on the scene as quickly as possible.”
